Internet service provider Stormfiber on Friday announced that its services, disrupted across Pakistan over the past week, will be fully restored by Monday, October 27.

In a statement, the company said it had already recovered over 60 per cent of the affected capacity by acquiring and activating additional bandwidth on alternate cables. “We expect to fully recover the lost capacity within 72 hours,” the statement read, adding that new bandwidth routes via the UAE, Oman, and Hong Kong were being brought online to improve network performance.

The provider explained that the disruptions began on October 20 after multiple regional submarine cables — including IMEWE and SEA-ME-WE4 — experienced outages. Compounding the issue, the PEACE cable also suffered a cut in the Red Sea near Sudan, resulting in congestion and slow browsing speeds for users.

Stormfiber said its technical teams were working around the clock with international partners to restore full connectivity and strengthen network resilience.

Internet users in Pakistan frequently face slowdowns caused by faults in undersea cables, which carry the majority of the country’s international traffic. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) says these cables are operated by PTCL, Cybernet, and TransWorld Associates.
