The Supreme Court of Pakistan has approved a 100 per cent increase in utility allowances for its employees.

According to a notification issued following the approval of the Chief Justice of Pakistan, the revised allowance structure will come into effect from 1 July 2026.

Under the new arrangement, employees in Grades 1 to 6 will receive a utility allowance of Rs12,000 per month, up from the previous Rs6,000. For employees in Grades 7 to 10, the allowance has been increased from Rs8,000 to Rs16,000.

The utility allowance for employees in Grades 11 to 15 has been raised from Rs10,000 to Rs20,000. Grade 16 officers will now receive Rs24,000 instead of Rs12,000, while Grade 17 officers will receive Rs30,000, up from Rs15,000.

Similarly, the allowance for Grade 18 officers has been doubled from Rs18,000 to Rs36,000. Grade 19 officers will now receive Rs42,000, compared with the previous Rs21,000.

For Grade 20 officers, the utility allowance has been increased from Rs24,000 to Rs48,000, while officers in Grade 21 and above will receive Rs60,000, up from Rs30,000.

The notification states that the utility allowance covers gas and electricity expenses.

It further notes that the additional financial implications of the increase will be met from the approved budget for the 2026–27 financial year.
