A citizen was deprived of gold jewellery and foreign currency worth Rs130 million in an armed robbery in Karachi's Bahadurabad, the police said on Wednesday.

An FIR of the robbery has been registered at the Bahadurabad police station on the complaint of Syed Mauz Ali against four unidentified suspects.

According to the FIR, the complainant, who works in marketing and research, had collected 200 tolas of gold jewellery and USD 100,000 from a bank locker located on Shahrah-e-Faisal and was heading home in his car.

He stated that upon reaching his residence and opening the automatic gate to park the vehicle, four armed men riding two motorcycles arrived at the scene. Three of the suspects, dressed in pants and shirts, entered the premises while one remained outside.

The armed suspects allegedly held him at gunpoint, snatched the jewellery and cash, and fled. The complainant said he could identify the suspects if they were brought before him.

Police said that raids are being conducted to arrest those involved, though no major breakthrough has been achieved so far in the investigation.
