The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Tuesday decided not to form a coalition government with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the centre.

PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari announced the decision after the meeting of the party's Central Executive Committee (CEC) in Lahore.

"Today, we have come to the conclusion that once again we need to raise the slogan Pakistan Khappy," the former foreign minister said while addressing a presser.

"[...] We are not in a position to form federal government ourselves, nor are we interested in taking ministries in such a setup. We also don’t want to see political chaos in the country. We don’t want to perpetual crisis in the country," the former foreign minister said while addressing a presser in Islamabad.

The PPP chairman announced his support for PML-N's premier candidate, saying "We will ensure that the government will be formed and political stability will be restored in the country.

Bilawal Bhutto withdrew his candidacy for the PM slot, however, he expressed his wish to see his father Asif Ali Zardari become the president.

"And I don't want him [Zardari] to become president because he is my father, but in this huge crisis country needs him. He only has the capacity to douse this fire," he asserted.
