Pakistan steps up Iran mediation as Munir, Naqvi reach Tehran

CDF and COAS Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni in Tehran as Pakistan stepped up efforts to promote regional peace and stability.

The visit is focused on advancing efforts for a peaceful, lasting and comprehensive resolution to the conflict in the Middle East.

The meeting comes amid continued regional tensions and Islamabad’s efforts to maintain dialogue between key parties. Pakistan has repeatedly offered its good offices to facilitate de-escalation and diplomatic engagement between Iran and the United States.

Munir has previously travelled to Tehran as part of Pakistan’s mediation efforts. During his May visit, he held talks with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Momeni. Pakistani officials said those discussions contributed to progress toward a broader understanding.
