The Pakistan Army has launched a large-scale rescue operation in flood-hit areas of Swat, safely evacuating residents — including schoolchildren — to secure locations.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), troops moved people from inundated zones to higher ground, with viral footage showing a soldier carrying a schoolchild on his back through deep floodwaters.
The Army reaffirmed its commitment to assist civilians during natural disasters, pledging to continue operations in coordination with local authorities.
“In every hour of difficulty, the soldiers of the Pakistan Army set high examples of humanitarian service,” ISPR said, adding that thousands of lives have been saved through the professionalism and sacrifice of the troops — a spirit that has won the hearts of the nation.

Meanwhile, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has dispatched a helicopter to Buner district, where heavy monsoon rains have triggered severe flooding, leaving residents stranded on rooftops.
The helicopter is being used to evacuate trapped individuals and deliver essential aid.
Authorities confirmed the death toll in Buner has risen to five, as floodwaters continue to threaten lives and property.
Rescue teams have been mobilised, and control rooms established to coordinate relief efforts and closely monitor the situation.
