Pakistan and Armenia have formally established diplomatic relations following the signing of a joint communiqué in Tianjin, China.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar announced the development on social media platform X, stating that he and Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan signed and exchanged the communiqué on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meeting.
Dar said the decision marks a new chapter in bilateral engagement, allowing both countries to strengthen cooperation at regional and international levels. He added that the discussions with his Armenian counterpart also covered prospects of collaboration in various fields.
This is the first time Pakistan and Armenia have formalised diplomatic ties. The move comes amid broader regional diplomatic shifts, as both countries seek to diversify their foreign relations.
