Pakistan says Taliban’s allegations reflect its inability to resolve internal challenges

Pakistan’s Ministry of Information has rejected Afghan Taliban allegations linking Pakistan to the fighting in Nuristan, describing the claims as baseless and unsupported by evidence.

The ministry said the allegations were being used to shift attention away from Afghanistan’s internal challenges, including dissent, instability and what it described as internal repression.

It accused the Taliban government of failing to address its own security problems and said blaming external forces for internal difficulties reflected frustration.

Pakistan also criticised the Taliban government as non-inclusive and said it had imposed itself on Afghanistan through force and coercion.

The ministry further accused the Taliban of overlooking terrorist groups operating from Afghan territory and alleged that its policies were contributing to regional instability.

It said the Taliban should instead take credible and verifiable action against militant groups operating from Afghanistan and fulfil commitments that Afghan territory would not be used for terrorism against Pakistan or other countries.
