Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Wednesday chaired the 272nd Corps Commanders’ Conference at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the country’s top military leadership reviewed the internal and external security situation, counter-terrorism operations, and regional developments.
The session began with prayers for the martyrs of recent terrorist attacks, which the army attributed to “Indian terror proxies”.
During the meeting, the COAS commended the dedication and resolve of the armed forces in combating “foreign-sponsored terror proxies” and in carrying out extensive relief operations in flood-hit areas alongside civil administration and law enforcement agencies.
The forum conducted a detailed assessment of ongoing counterterrorism efforts, operational preparedness, and emerging threats. It reaffirmed that the Pakistan Armed Forces remain fully prepared to thwart “inimical designs” of the country’s adversaries across all fronts.
Warning against the “nexus between terror and crime with vested political patronage,” the participants declared that such activities would no longer be tolerated under any circumstances.
The commanders also voiced serious concern over “irresponsible and provocative” statements by Indian civil and military leaders, describing them as an attempt to “whip up war hysteria for political gains.” They cautioned that such rhetoric could escalate tensions and endanger regional stability.
“The forum pledged to counter any Indian aggression with a swift and decisive response, shattering any perceived notion of India’s relative safety accruing from geography,” the ISPR statement said, adding that any “imaginary new normal will be met with a new normal of swift retributive response.”

Reaffirming the army’s commitment to eradicating militancy, the participants resolved to intensify comprehensive counterterrorism operations to dismantle “Indian-sponsored terror proxies” such as Fitna Al-Khawarij and Fitna Al-Hindustan.
The forum also welcomed the landmark Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement recently signed between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, terming it a major step toward strengthening strategic relations and enhancing cooperation for a joint response to any external aggression.
Reiterating Pakistan’s “uncompromising support” for the people of Kashmir and Palestine, the commanders reaffirmed backing for the Kashmiri struggle for self-determination in line with UN resolutions. They also called for an immediate ceasefire and humanitarian relief for Palestinians in Gaza, reiterating support for a two-state solution based on pre-1967 borders with Al Quds Al Sharif as the capital of an independent Palestinian state.
In his closing remarks, COAS Field Marshal Asim Munir directed commanders to maintain the highest standards of readiness, discipline, and innovation. He expressed full confidence in the army’s capability to counter threats “across the entire spectrum — from conventional and sub-conventional to hybrid and asymmetric warfare.”
