A court in Wazirabad has handed down four-year prison term to Muhammad Naveed, the man who was convicted in the gun attack on PTI founder Imran Khan, in a separate case pertaining to illegal possession of weapons.

Naveed was found guilty under the Punjab Arms (Amendment) Ordinance, 2015. The court sentenced him to four years of simple imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs40,000.

In the verdict, the court directed that this sentence will run concurrently with any other punishments Naveed is already serving in different cases. The sentence will be considered effective from the date he was taken into jail custody.

Earlier, in April 2025, an anti-terrorism court had sentenced Naveed to life imprisonment under Section 302(b) of the Pakistan Penal Code in connection with the Wazirabad attack.

The shooting incident took place on November 3, 2022, during PTI’s long march in Wazirabad, when a gunman opened fire on the procession. Former prime minister Imran Khan, Senator Faisal Javed and several others were injured, while one party worker was killed in the attack.
