An Islamabad court on Saturday issued a bailable arrest warrant for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in connection with a liquor and illegal arms case.
Judicial Magistrate Mubashir Chishti directed police to arrest and produce Gandapur on the next date of hearing after rejecting his request for exemption from personal appearance. The hearing was adjourned until July 21.
The same court also heard cases related to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)'s Azadi March, in which several party leaders and workers are accused. After reviewing the case challans, the court issued summons for PTI leaders Ali Amin Gandapur and Shafqat Mahmood.
Bailable arrest warrants were issued for other accused who failed to appear, and the hearing was adjourned until July 24.
The Azadi March-related cases were registered at Bara Kahu police station, naming senior PTI leaders and numerous party workers.
In a separate proceeding, Additional Sessions Judge Nasr Minullah Baloch presided over the audio leak case involving Chief Minister Gandapur. The defence filed a petition seeking exemption from appearance, noting that Gandapur has already secured bail from the Peshawar High Court until September 23.
Gandapur’s counsel, Raja Zahoor-ul-Hassan, requested the court to postpone the indictment proceedings for an extended period. The court granted the request and adjourned the hearing until September 29.
The audio leak case against Gandapur and others has been registered at the Golra police station.
