Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has filed an appeal in the Supreme Court against the Lahore High Court's decision to reject his bail in a case linked to the 9 May riots.
In the petition, the PTI founder argued that there is a lack of evidence in the FIR and that the accusation of aiding the riots is baseless. He maintained that he was in NAB custody at the time, making any involvement in the incident impossible.
He further claimed that contradictory statements from the prosecution have raised doubts about the case and that further investigation is needed. The petition also states that police avoided arresting him for five months, which shows clear malice.
Imran said that the evidence against him is weak, and many co-accused have already been granted bail. He also questioned the credibility of police statements due to delays, stating that he deserves bail under the law.
Former PM maintained that case is politically motivated and violates constitutional rights.
The Lahore High Court had earlier rejected his bail pleas in related cases.
