PTI founder and former PM Imran Khan was brought from Adiala jail to PIMS Islamabad for a scheduled follow-up related to his ongoing eye treatment. Doctors claim that he received the second dose of an anti-VEGF intravitreal injection in his affected eye.
According to PIMS press release, Khan was examined by a board of medical specialists before the procedure. A consultant cardiologist conducted echocardiography and an ECG, both of which showed normal results, and the 74-year-old was declared clinically stable ahead of the treatment.
It was also reported, that the injection was administered in a fully equipped operating theatre under standard monitoring, precautionary measures and microscopy guidance by consultant ophthalmologists and a vitreoretinal surgeon from PIMS and Al-Shifa Eye Hospital. The procedure was carried out as a day-care surgery.
Hospital officials reported that Khan’s vital signs remained stable before, during and after the injection, and he was discharged later the same day with detailed instructions for post-procedure care, follow-up advice and relevant medical documents.
Meanwhile, a third dose expected to be administered later next month, according to medical sources.
