Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) Hina Parvez Butt has said that none of her statements or actions have ever caused embarrassment to the chief minister or the Punjab government. She added that if Information Minister Azma Bokhari herself felt embarrassed, that was her personal choice.
Responding to a statement by Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari, Hina Parvez Butt said she had stated that “this is Maryam Nawaz's government, where justice is delivered promptly.” She described the remark as her personal opinion and said there was no need to turn it into a controversy.
Butt added that her statement reflected the views of an ordinary citizen expressing her personal impressions.
She maintained that she had not levelled any allegations against the chief minister, the Punjab government or any institution.
She said her colleague Azma Bokhari had claimed that her remarks had caused embarrassment to the government or to Bokhari herself. Butt respectfully disagreed, saying she did not believe anyone should feel embarrassed by her statements on social media.
Butt also acknowledged that Bokhari, as the government's spokesperson, had explained the government's policy, which she described as appropriate.
The PML-N leader further criticised those defending alleged criminals, saying they did not meet the families whose children's bodies were found in horrific conditions.
She added that anyone with a sense of humanity would have been deeply affected upon hearing the news about Waseem from Multan, asking how a person with compassion could remain unmoved by such an incident.
