Senator and former PTI leader Faisal Vawda claimed that he prepared ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s fake “platelet reports” while at home. An old interview clip in which he made this statement has recently resurfaced online.
Vawda made the claim during senior journalist Kamran Shahid’s talk show, where PML-N leaders Javed Latif and Muhammad Zubair were also on the panel.
“We made Nawaz Sharif’s platelet reports while sitting at home,” Vawda said when asked by the host to clarify his claim. “This is not the first time I’ve shared it on television; I had even disclosed it during a cabinet meeting at the time.”

“PML-N leader Muhammad Zubair and Javed Latif are eyewitnesses to that,” he added.
In October 2019, Services Hospital, Lahore Medical Superintendent Dr Saleem Cheema had submitted former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s medical report in the Islamabad High Court, stating that his health was in “critical condition”.
"The special medical board is of the considered opinion that due to severe existent co-morbid conditions like diabetes mellitus, hypertension, hyperlipidaemia, hyperuricemia, chronic renal disease and ischaemic heart disease, the condition of the patient is critical and the current scenario of very low platelet count has added to the seriousness of nature of disease of his illness," the summary of medical report said.

It was earlier reported that the Head of the Board Dr Mahmood Ayaz had also informed the IHC that the main risk and danger was regarding the rapid decline of platelets to 6,000 per microlitre.
According to him, further investigation with Nawaz Sharif in corruption cases would be possible only if the number of platelets had been increased to 20,000 per microlitre.
He was of the view that Nawaz must be protected first from external and internal bleeding, which also hampered some procedures to be carried out by the medical board.
In 2019, after securing bail in corruption cases, Nawaz travelled to London for medical treatment.
An air ambulance was arranged due to his health condition, which included an immune system disorder. The PTI-led government allowed his travel on the condition that indemnity bonds worth Rs7–7.5 billion be furnished.
After treatment, Nawaz remained in the UK for four years in self-imposed exile. He returned to Pakistan in 2023, a few months before the general elections, following the ouster of his rival party from power.
