At least three coaches of the Jaffer Express train derailed after it was struck by a blast near Jacobabad on Monday.

There are no reports of casualties or injuries because of the incident yet.

The train was heading towards Quetta from Rawalpindi when the blast occurred between Sultan Kot and Jacoabad, according to media reports.

The explosion took place close to the Jaffar Express as it was passing through the area. Three coaches of the train derailed due to the intesity of the blast.

Acting swiftly, railway staff safely evacuated passengers. Train services on the affected route has been suspended while engineers have started work to clear the tracks.

An investigation has been launched to determine the nature of the explosion.

In March, militants have taken more than 400 passengers hostage on the Jaffar Express in Balochistan’s Bolan area, according to security sources.

The train, traveling from Quetta to Peshawar, came under fire in the Peru Kanri region of Kach district.

The assailants wounded the driver and seized control of the train in a tunnel, holding passengers, including women and children, hostage in the mountainous terrain near the Afghan and Iranian borders.
