A Pakistan Army major and a sepoy were martyred while three terrorists were killed during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Balochistan’s Mastung district, the military’s media wing said on Thursday.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces launched the operation following reports of the presence of terrorists affiliated with "Fitna al Hindustan," an Indian-backed proxy group.
“During the conduct of operation, own troops effectively engaged the terrorists’ location and resultantly, three terrorists were sent to hell," the ISPR said.
“However, during the intense fire exchange, Major Zeeyyad Salim Awal (age: 31 years, resident of District Khushab), a brave officer who was leading his troops from the front, fought gallantly, paid the ultimate sacrifice and embraced shahadat along with another brave son of soil Sepoy Nazam Hussain (age: 22 years, resident of District Jhelum).”
A sanitisation operation is ongoing in the area to ensure the elimination of any remaining threat. “The security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of Indian sponsored terrorism from the country, and such sacrifices of our brave men further strengthen our resolve,” read the statement.

This latest operation comes just days after security forces killed eight terrorists during a similar IBO in Balochistan’s Kalat district.
Balochistan has witnessed a rise in terrorist activity in recent months, with security forces routinely targeted in attacks claimed by separatist groups and other militant outfits.
