Tel Aviv: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has hinted that Israel’s military operations in Gaza may intensify further if Hamas refuses to accept the proposed ceasefire agreement.
In a televised address, Netanyahu confirmed that an Israeli delegation will travel to Cairo to finalize details regarding the implementation and timeline of a potential ceasefire.
He stated, “Hamas has no choice but to accept this agreement.” The Israeli premier reiterated that Hamas will be disarmed, saying, “Whether through diplomacy or military force, Hamas will be disarmed. The United States has been informed that this task must be accomplished — and it will be done.”
Netanyahu’s remarks suggest that if Hamas fails to comply with the ceasefire terms, Israeli military operations in Gaza are likely to intensify.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian resistance group Hamas has reportedly accepted most provisions of U.S. President Donald Trump’s 20-point Gaza peace plan, though it has expressed reservations over certain clauses, including the proposed mediation role of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, which it has rejected.
According to Egyptian media, indirect talks between Hamas and Israel are expected to take place on Sunday and Monday in Cairo, focusing on the release of hostages under the Trump peace framework.
Separately, President Donald Trump once again warned Hamas, saying, “Hamas must act swiftly — otherwise all conditions will be withdrawn. We will tolerate neither delays nor a renewed threat from Gaza.”
Israeli airstrikes on Gaza continue, with reports indicating that 66 Palestinians were killed and 265 injured in the last 24 hours alone.
