Natasha Baig reveals she was going to sing national anthem in Tiger Zinda Hai before plan fell through

Pakistani singer Natasha Baig has disclosed that she was once offered an opportunity to perform in a national anthem sequence featured in the Bollywood film *Tiger Zinda Hai*, but the project did not move forward as tensions between Pakistan and India escalated.

During a recent appearance on a YouTube programme, Baig said she received the offer before relations between the two countries deteriorated. She recalled that the filmmakers wanted her, along with several other choir singers, to contribute to the national anthem sequence featured near the end of the movie.

Baig said she was initially surprised by the opportunity and described being overwhelmed when she received the call.

According to the singer, preparations for the performance, including logistical arrangements, had already been made. However, growing tensions between the two countries ultimately brought the plan to a halt.

She described the offer as her only opportunity to work with Bollywood, adding that she did not receive any further calls after the situation between Pakistan and India became strained.

Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and produced by Yash Raj Films, *Tiger Zinda Hai* was released in December 2017. The action film starred Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif and continued the story introduced in *Ek Tha Tiger*.

The film's soundtrack also featured Pakistani singer Atif Aslam, who performed the popular song “Dil Diyan Gallan”. His involvement came despite restrictions on Pakistani artists working in India's Hindi film industry at the time.

Baig, a singer-songwriter from Hunza Valley in Gilgit-Baltistan, has worked across Sufi rock, folk and classical music. She first gained significant attention in 2013 following her acclaimed appearance on the reality music show *Cornetto Music Icons*.

She later reached a wider audience through her performance of “Shikwa” on *Coke Studio Pakistan*, further establishing herself in the country's contemporary music scene.
