Minister for Maritime Affairs, Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, announced that Pakistan has been granted a 4-year permit to export fish to the United States, marking a significant achievement for the country’s seafood industry.

Chaudhry highlighted that this permit is a global acknowledgment of the high quality of Pakistani seafood.

He noted that local fisheries have now met the stringent US standards, paving the way for the continued export of marine products to the US market.

The minister asserted that this approval will help stabilize Pakistan’s fish exports, fostering a more secure and consistent market for the country’s seafood industry.

In 2024, Pakistan exported 242,000 tons of fish, earning $489 million in foreign exchange. With the new permit in place, exports are expected to rise, with projections reaching $600 million next year.
