National Assembly approves Pakistan’s budget 2026–27

Islamabad: The National Assembly has approved Pakistan’s Federal Budget for the fiscal year 2026–27.
The budget session was presided over by Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, during which members voted in favour of the budget proposals for the upcoming financial year.
Following the approval of the budget, the Speaker adjourned the National Assembly session until 11:00 a.m. the following day.
Under the Finance Bill 2026–27, import duties on vehicles with engine capacities ranging from 2,000cc to 3,000cc will be set at 86 per cent from 1 July. Imported vehicles with engine capacities of 3,001cc and above will be subject to a 92 per cent duty.
The Finance Bill also provides tax exemptions for the Pakistan Navy Benevolent Association and the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) effective from 1 July.
In addition, tax concessions will continue to apply to Provincial Employees’ Social Security Institutions, welfare organisations operating in Orangi Town, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
