Venezuela’s Vice President has assumed presidential responsibilities following a court order.

In a press conference, Delcy Rodríguez disagreed with statements made by US President Donald Trump and demanded the immediate release of Nicolás Maduro.

Rodríguez emphasised that Nicolás Maduro is the sole president of Venezuela and insisted that the country will not become a colony of any other nation.

She also reaffirmed her commitment to defending Venezuela and its natural resources.

Reports indicate that US forces carried out attacks in the Venezuelan capital and other locations, capturing President Maduro and his wife and transferring them to the United States.

Explosions were reported across Caracas, and low-flying aircraft were observed over various areas of the city.

According to US media, President Trump ordered the attacks, which included at least seven explosions in Caracas.

Earlier, protests were held outside the White House in Washington following the US military operation in Venezuela and President Donald Trump’s statement claiming control over the country.

A large number of demonstrators gathered outside the White House, chanting slogans and waving banners reading “No war against Venezuela”. Meanwhile, in Times Square, protesters staged a rally demanding the arrest of President Trump.
