MANCHESTER: British Health Minister James Frith attended an Eid Milad-un-Nabi procession in Bury, Manchester, describing the annual event as a powerful example of interfaith harmony and unity.
Speaking at the occasion, Frith said it was an honour for him to join Muslims in commemorating the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
“I attend the Bury Milad procession every year,” Frith said, adding that Sunni and Shia Muslims in the area celebrate Eid Milad-un-Nabi together in a spirit of unity and solidarity.
He said that, in contrast to divisions among different schools of thought witnessed in parts of the world, the Bury community demonstrates unity and harmony during the Milad celebrations.
Frith also said that police had made special security arrangements for the procession.
