US President Donald Trump says that "Iran has an interest in reaching an agreement." Talks between Tehran and the rest of the world concerning its nuclear program as well as the on-going war are still inconclusive.
According to BFMTV, in a recent phone interview, Trump revealed that he did not know if there would be an agreement soon, but he emphasized that "If they don't, they're going to have a very bad time. They have an interest in reaching an agreement," the American president told BFMTV in the US.
As per various media outlets, it looks like Trump will make his decision within hours as regards resuming strikes on the Iranian regime, with talks on resolving the on-going crisis and its nuclear program failing to reach any conclusive agreement thus far.
Regional tensions have been heightened since US and Israeli forces conducted strikes on Iran on February 28, leading to retaliation from Tehran against Israel and its allied nations in the Gulf states region, as well as the closing of the vital Strait of Hormuz.
A ceasefire took effect on April 8 through Pakistani mediation, but talks in Islamabad failed to produce a lasting agreement.
Trump later extended the truce indefinitely while maintaining a blockade on vessels traveling to or from Iranian ports through the strategic waterway.
