US President Donald Trump once again launched a scathing attack on London Mayor Sadiq Khan, calling him a “nasty person” during a joint press conference with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Monday.
Trump, who is currently on a four-day informal summer visit to Scotland, made the remarks after a journalist asked whether he planned to visit London during his scheduled visit to the UK in September this year on the invitation from King Charles III.
“I’m not a fan of your mayor. I think he’s done a terrible job… the mayor of London, a nasty person,” Trump said.
In response, Prime Minister Starmer stepped in, stating, “He’s a friend of mine, actually,” in a show of support for Khan. However, Trump continued his criticism undeterred.

Trump has a history of leveling critical remarks against Mayor Sadiq Khan, despite no apparent significant dispute.
In response to Trump's recent statement, a spokesperson for Mayor Sadiq Khan announced that London would welcome the US president should he visit the UK.
The spokesperson added that Trump would then witness firsthand how diversity strengthens all societal groups, from rich to the weak.
They concluded, "Perhaps these are the reasons why a record number of Americans have applied for British citizenship under his presidency."
