A 28-year-old Spanish tourist, who was on a bike world tour with her husband, was gang-raped by seven men in Jharkhand state of India.

The woman, whose identity was not revealed by the authorities, and her husband embarked on a tour to sixty-three countries and 170,000 km on motorcycles around five years back.

According to Indian media, the harrowing incident happened on March 1 (Friday) when the foreign couple was spending the night in a makeshift tent in Jharkhand's Dumka area.

The couple arrived in India from Bangladesh and they planned to continue their journey through Bihar to Nepal.

However, the woman was attacked by seven men at night when she came out of her makeshift camp.

"Something has happened to us that we would not wish on anyone. Seven men have raped me," the woman shared on her Instagram account, along with images showing horrific injuries to her face.

“They had beaten us and robbed us, although not many things because what they wanted was to rape me,” she added.

Later, she deleted the post as the local police told her to do so.

"The police told me to turn off the post so as not to disturb the investigation. I will post it later," the victim said in a post on Instagram.

In another post, her 64-year-old partner said he was hit several times in the head with a helmet and a stone and that his “mouth was destroyed”.

However, police have arrested four men allegedly involved in the gang rape of a Spanish tourist.

"All the members of the group have been identified and the remaining suspects will be arrested soon," Jharkhand police chief Ajay Kumar Singh told The Indian Express newspaper.
