Saudi Arabia has executed five citizens convicted of terrorism-related offences, the country’s Interior Ministry said on Saturday.
In a statement, the ministry said that the men were found guilty of offences including joining a foreign terrorist organisation, attacking security forces and facilities with weapons and explosives.
The crimes also included possessing firearms and ammunition, and supporting and financing terrorist operations in the kingdom.
The ministry said that security forces arrested the men and investigators subsequently referred their cases to a competent court, which handed down death sentences.
The Supreme Court upheld the rulings before the executions were carried out in the Eastern Province under a royal order.
