More than 60 people were killed and over 145 were injured on Friday night after armed men attacked a concert held at Crocus City Hall located on the outskirts of Russia's Moscow.

According to Reuters, the harrowing incident happened when almost 6,200 people gathered at Crocus City Hall to attend the concert of Soviet-era rock group “Picnic”.

The publication said the terrorist attack is the deadliest incident in Russia since the 2004 Beslan school siege wherein militants had taken more than 1,000 people hostage.

The viral video showed people rushed to the exit gate to save their lives as armed men openly fired at the concertgoers with Kalashnikov automatic weapons.

Other videos showed men shooting at groups of people. Some victims lay motionless in pools of blood.

“Suddenly there were bangs behind us — shots. A burst of firing — I do not know what,” one of the witnesses said while talking to Reuters.

“A stampede began. Everyone ran to the escalator. Everyone was screaming; everyone was running,” he added.

According to the Russian health authority, the death toll from the terrorist attack was more than 60.

At least 60 among 145 injured in the attack are in critical condition, health officials informed.

The outlawed terrorist group, Daesh, has taken responsibility for the attack.

In a statement, Daesh said its fighters attacked on the outskirts of Moscow, "killing and wounding hundreds" [...] before they withdrew to their bases safely."

On the other hand, Pakistan strongly condemned the horrendous attack carried out at a concert, expressing its deepest sympathies with the families of the victims.

"At this difficult hour, we stand in solidarity with the people and Government of the Russian Federation," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan said in a statement.
