TEL AVIV/WASHINGTON: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned Hamas of severe consequences if it rejects U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposed Gaza ceasefire plan.

According to international media, Netanyahu said in a statement that if Hamas refuses the plan, “Israel will finish the job.”

He added that the proposal aligns with Israel’s principles for ending the war and ensures Gaza will “never again pose a threat” to Israel.

The remarks follow the announcement of Trump’s 20-point ceasefire proposal at the White House, where the U.S. President appeared alongside Netanyahu.

Trump hailed the plan as a “historic day for Middle East peace,” claiming it brings the region closer to stability and has the support of Arab and Muslim leaders. He specifically cited backing from Turkey, Indonesia, Pakistan, Jordan, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Egypt.

Trump further assured Israel of Washington’s “full support” should Hamas reject the plan, declaring that Netanyahu had already accepted it.

Meanwhile, Muslim nations issued a joint statement welcoming Trump’s initiative.

The foreign ministers of Pakistan, Jordan, the UAE, Indonesia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Egypt praised the plan for addressing key issues, including Gaza’s reconstruction, preventing the forced displacement of Palestinians, securing a ceasefire, and advancing a comprehensive peace process.
