Israel resumes ceasefire after killing 44 Palestinians in single day

The Israeli army announced that it would halt further strikes in Gaza after killing 44 Palestinians on Sunday, claiming that the attacks were in response to Hamas fire on occupation troops in the southern part of the Strip.

Gaza witnessed its deadliest day since the ceasefire came into effect, as Israel carried out multiple airstrikes across the enclave. According to reports, two Israeli soldiers were killed in Rafah after an alleged Hamas assault involving gunfire and an anti-tank missile.

However, Hamas categorically denied Israel’s accusations, asserting that no clashes took place in Rafah and condemned Tel Aviv for once again violating the truce.

Late on Sunday, Israel announced that it would resume the ceasefire but warned it would “respond firmly” to any further violations.

The ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel took effect on October 10, with occupation forces reportedly pulling back to a designated “yellow line” along Gaza’s northern, eastern, and southern borders. Despite this, Israel has repeatedly breached the truce through renewed strikes and incursions in several areas.

Muslim nations that had backed the peace initiative, guaranteeing that Gaza would return to normalcy without further bloodshed, have remained silent over Israel’s repeated ceasefire violations.

Meanwhile, Israel continues to use starvation as a weapon by severely restricting humanitarian aid under false pretexts. Reports from Gaza confirm that food and medical supplies remain dangerously scarce.

Since the so-called ceasefire began, at least 97 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza. The truce had been brokered under a peace plan led by US President Donald Trump, aiming to halt the ongoing genocide and begin Gaza’s reconstruction.
