Iran has replaced several air defence systems that were damaged during its 12-day war with Israel in June, according to Iranian army operations chief Mahmoud Mousavi.

Speaking to state-run IRNA news agency on Sunday, the general said Israel had attempted to cripple Iran’s defence capabilities through an intense bombing campaign.

Israel's surprise strikes in mid-June targeted key military and nuclear infrastructure, significantly weakening Iran’s air defences. In response, Tehran launched waves of drone and missile attacks.

The conflict, which erupted into one of the most intense escalations between the two countries, left more than 1,000 people dead in Iran and at least 28 in Israel.

Mousavi confirmed that the damaged air defence units — which include Iran's domestically built systems like Bavar-373 and Khordad-15 — have now been restored or replaced. Iran also utilizes Russian-made S-300 systems.

The war extended beyond bilateral clashes as the U.S., a key Israeli ally, carried out unprecedented airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites at Fordo, Isfahan, and Natanz on June 22.

While former President Donald Trump claimed the sites were “completely destroyed,” a report by NBC News indicated that only one of the facilities suffered major damage.

Since the ceasefire took effect on June 24, tensions remain high. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has pledged to prevent Iran from reviving its nuclear programme, while Defence Minister Yoav Gallant recently stated that Israel is preparing measures to ensure Tehran cannot pose a future threat.
