Head-on train crash near Copenhagen injures seventeen

A head-on collision between two trains near Copenhagen left at least 17 people injured. According to reports, four of the injured are in critical condition.
The train crash occurred in the Gribskov area, around 40 km north of the Danish capital, during the early morning hours.
The police and rescue teams got a call at 6:30 in the morning. The help was swiftly deployed at the emergency site. The rescue teams got all the people out of the trains. The injured were immediately transported to nearby hospitals.
A police spokesperson, Tim Simonsen, claimed that the trains crashed into each other. He stated thar some people got badly injured. They are still trying to figure out what happened. The critically injured were taken to the hospital by helicopter.
The collision took place between the towns of Hillerod and Kagerup, with images from the scene showing heavily damaged front sections of both trains. The police closed off the area to investigate into the reason behind the crash.
The mayor of Gribskov, Trine Egetved was very shocked. She said a lot of people use this rail route to go to work or school on a daily basis. She wants to know why the crash happened and she wants to ensure proper medical care for the injured.
Denmark is known for its strong rail safety record, though past incidents, including a deadly 2019 crash, highlight the risks associated with rail transport. Investigations into the recent collision are ongoing.
