At least eight people were killed and 25 others injured after a freight train collided with a public bus in Bangkok.

Police and rescue officials said that the crash on Saturday sparked a fire that quickly engulfed the bus.

The flames later spread to nearby vehicles, leading to a large emergency response as firefighters and rescue teams rushed to the scene.

Rescue workers pulled injured passengers from the wreckage while fire crews battled the blaze and worked to stop it from spreading further.

Officials said the fire has since been brought under control, with crews continuing cooling operations, ventilating the area and searching for additional victims.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the collision.
