The Houthis have carried out 20 attacks on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh since October 1, killing 17 people and injuring more than 330, the Saudi-led Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen said on Thursday.
Coalition spokesperson Maj. Gen. Turki Al-Maliki said that the attacks targeted airports across Saudi Arabia, including the airport in Riyadh and Abha airport. Across the Kingdom, the attacks have killed 19 people and injured 364, he added.
Al-Maliki referred to a major attack on Riyadh airport on Saturday that left 13 people dead, saying it occurred during rush hour and threatened the safety of civilian travellers.
“These brutal terrorist attacks do not merely target the Kingdom’s airports; rather, they go beyond that to threaten the safety of travellers, including citizens, brothers, friends, and pilgrims to the Two Holy Mosques from all corners of the earth,” he said.
The coalition spokesperson said the Houthis had obtained advanced technology with assistance from regional parties and established warehouses in mountainous areas around Sanaa, Saada and Amran to launch attacks.
He accused the group of using civilian infrastructure and Yemen’s resources to support its military operations.
Al-Maliki said the coalition had destroyed 127 warehouses in mountainous areas, along with numerous Houthi launch sites, in recent days.
