Salman Ali Agha dropped from Pakistan T20 squad as captaincy set for change

Pakistan are set to make major changes to their T20 squad, with Salman Ali Agha reportedly being removed as captain and dropped from the format.

Salman, who was also recently left out of the Test side, is now expected to remain part of Pakistan’s ODI squad only, reports said.

Sahibzada Farhan and Shadab Khan are the leading candidates for the T20 captaincy. The selectors have also decided to drop Shaheen Shah Afridi from the T20 squad after Haris Rauf was left out.

Shaheen has taken 136 wickets for Pakistan across formats, while Rauf has 133. Razaullah, who impressed in the Edgbaston Test, is also a strong candidate for inclusion in both the T20 and ODI squads, the reports said.

Shaheen is expected to retain the ODI captaincy, while Test captain Babar Azam will remain part of both the T20 and ODI squads.

Pakistan are scheduled to play three T20 internationals against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi from October 9 to 13.

A tri-nation ODI tournament involving Pakistan, England and Sri Lanka will then be held in Rawalpindi and Lahore from October 18 to 31.
