Pakistani athlete, Ilyas Hussain Hazara, made the country proud on Tuesday after he defeated his Indian opponent in the international boxing championship held in Australia.

Hazara clinched the victory to win the golden medal against Gurjant Singh in 'Big Time Boxing' in Melbourne.

Earlier in 2022, Hazara, who hails from Balochistan's Quetta, also participated in Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

He made it to the CWC's featherweight quarter-finals with a win against Trinidad and Tobago’s Anthony Shawn Joseph.

On April 20, Pakistani karate champion Shahzaib Rind secured victory against India's Rana Singh at the Karate Combat 45 held in Dubai.

Following the victory, the Balochistan government announced a public sector job and Rs2 million cash prize for Rind.

However, the announcement from the provincial chief came after Rind lambasted the government for not supporting the "country’s heroes".
