Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan appeared before the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) on Friday for the forensic examination and analysis of his mobile phone, which was taken into the agency’s custody last month.
The NCCIA summoned Rizwan under Section 160 of the Code of Criminal Procedure and asked him to cooperate with the forensic examination of the device.
According to sources, a four-member NCCIA team comprising a deputy director and three inspectors questioned the cricketer.
Speaking to Geo News while appearing before the agency, Rizwan declined to comment on the details of the inquiry. Asked about the allegations against him, he said: “Ask them [NCCIA].”
In an earlier letter, Rizwan had sought written details of the inquiry and the return of his mobile phone.
He previously said the NCCIA took possession of his phone in England on August 31 during Pakistan’s Test tour and that he provided its password. He also said the device was examined in his presence.
