The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting in Dubai, chaired by ACC President and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi, saw a development concerning the Asia Cup 2025 trophy, according to sources on Tuesday.

During the meeting, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) vice-president Rajiv Shukla reportedly requested the trophy from Naqvi.

However, Naqvi clarified that the matter was not on the meeting’s agenda. Sources said Shukla pressed the request, but Naqvi responded that if the Indian team wanted the trophy, their captain could personally collect it from the ACC office.

No decision was reached on the trophy handover, leaving the matter unresolved.

The situation follows India’s five-wicket victory over Pakistan in the Asia Cup final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. Despite the win, the Indian team did not collect their winners’ medals or the trophy. Reports indicated the players refused to receive the trophy from Naqvi, causing a delay in the closing ceremony by about an hour.

While individual awards were distributed — with Kuldeep Yadav, Shivam Dube and Tilak Varma among the recipients, and Abhishek Sharma named Player of the Tournament — the main trophy presentation did not take place. Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha accepted the runners-up cheque on behalf of his side.

Presenter Simon Doull announced during the ceremony that the Indian team would not be collecting their awards, effectively concluding the post-match proceedings.

India’s victory came after Pakistan, batting first, managed 146 in 19.1 overs. Sahibzada Farhan’s half-century gave Pakistan a promising start, but a collapse triggered by Kuldeep Yadav’s wicket saw them lose eight wickets for just 33 runs. India chased down the target with five wickets in hand.
