Woman who married by choice killed, husband critical

KARACHI, August 18: A woman, Fatima, who had got herself married out of choice, was killed and her husband was critically injured in an incident of firing in the Gulshan-e-Hadeed locality of Karachi.

It was reported that the incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Steel Town Police Station and the CCTV footage of the shooting incident has also emerged.

The court of Thatta district had directed the police to provide security to the couple who were residing in Dhabeji. The couple was escorted by the police till the Karachi limits after which they were left alone.

The CCTV footage of the National Highway toll plaza revealed a police vehicle. The couple entered into Karachi and then the Thatta police came back.

After some time, when the police left, armed men in a white vehicle started firing at the couple. Fatima was killed while her husband Akbar and a man were critically injured.

The police officials stated that the couple were targeted when they were coming from court. After the incident, the suspects fled towards Thatta.

As per the police sources, Akbar and Fatima were traveling on the same motorcycle with their friend named Umer. Fatima sustained injuries from two bullets while Akbar sustained injuries from six bullets.

Umer was also shot in a bullet but he is not in any danger. Later on, Steel Town police conducted raid in Thatta and arrested a suspect allegedly involved in shooting incident of the couple.
