KARACHI: Armed suspects carried out two separate cash robberies in Karachi, taking millions of rupees from employees in Korangi and on Tariq Road, police said.

The first robbery occurred in Korangi No. 5, where two employees of a petrol pump were carrying Rs62 million to a bank for deposit. Police said four men on two motorcycles intercepted them outside the bank and snatched the cash bag.

Footage from a nearby CCTV camera showed the suspects approaching the victims from the wrong side of the road before escaping on motorcycles. The Awami Colony police have obtained the footage and are investigating the incident.

In a separate case on Tariq Road, three armed men allegedly took Rs7.8 million from employees of a private company. According to police, the employees had collected the cash from a bank and were on their way when the suspects stopped them.

The suspects fled immediately after taking the money. Police have begun an investigation into the robbery and are working to trace and arrest those involved.
