Punjab has introduced drone technology for the first time as part of its Eid-ul-Azha cleanliness and waste management operation.
According to a spokesperson for the Suthra Punjab initiative, more than 110,000 tonnes of animal waste and sacrificial remains were collected and disposed of across the province during the first two days of Eid-ul-Azha.
The spokesperson further revealed that over 17,000 tonnes of waste were cleared from Lahore alone as part of the large-scale sanitation campaign.
Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari stated that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is personally overseeing the cleanliness operation to ensure its smooth implementation across the province.
She said the operation is progressing successfully, with Suthra Punjab teams actively working in cities and rural areas around the clock.
According to the minister, more than 184,000 sanitation workers have been deployed for the campaign.
In addition to collecting and disposing of sacrificial waste, teams are also washing streets, roads and neighbourhoods with rose water to maintain cleanliness and improve the environment during Eid celebrations.
The use of drone technology is being viewed as a significant step towards modernising sanitation and monitoring systems during major public operations in Punjab.
