Punjab: Chained child beggar rescued after shocking video surfaces online

A disturbing video showing a minor boy chained and forced to beg in Punjab’s Mandi Bahauddin district has gone viral on social media, prompting swift action from the authorities.

Chairperson of the Child Protection Bureau, Sara Ahmed, took immediate notice of the viral footage, which reportedly depicted a man using chains to force a child to beg outside a court in the Phalia area.

In response, the Child Protection Bureau in Gujranwala intervened, rescued the child, and took him into protective custody.

According to Sara Ahmed, the suspect involved in the inhumane act was arrested. She assured that the rescued child will be provided full protection, including access to education and healthcare.

The Child Protection Bureau urged the public to report any instances of child abuse, exploitation, or violence by calling the child helpline at 1121.
