Police take action after viral footage shows car dragging motorcycle with man on bonnet

RAWALPINDI: Police have registered a case against an unidentified driver for alleged rash driving after footage showing a man riding on the bonnet of a moving car while a motorcycle was dragged underneath it surfaced on social media.

The video shows the man gripping the sides of the vehicle as it moves along the road, while a motorcycle remains trapped beneath the car’s fender and is dragged along with it.

The case was registered at New Town police station on Monday following a complaint by New Town Traffic Police Inspector Wahid Ikhlaq.

According to the FIR, police traced the incident to September 25 after investigating the widely circulated footage.

The inquiry found that the incident occurred at around 11:25pm and involved two vehicles, a black car and a white Honda Civic.

Police said the black car initially collided with the white vehicle. The driver of the white car was then seen on the bonnet of the black vehicle when it subsequently struck a motorcycle, which became lodged underneath and was dragged along the road.

The identities of both drivers remain unknown, and no arrest has been made so far.

The complainant described the incident as an act of negligence and carelessness, alleging that it involved deliberate damage to another vehicle and constituted a violation of traffic laws.
