PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court has issued a decision in a case involving unauthorised transactions from a customer’s account with a private digital bank, ordering the bank to immediately refund Rs40,000 to the complainant.

The Consumer Court also directed the bank to pay Rs25,000 in compensation for the customer’s inconvenience and legal expenses.

In addition, the court ordered the private digital bank to pay Rs25,000 to the government as a fine for negligence in the matter.

According to the petitioner, he visited the bank on February 14 to withdraw money and found only Rs1,100 remaining in his account.

Upon checking the account history, he discovered that three separate unauthorised transactions had been carried out without his consent.

No representative of the private digital bank appeared before the court, following which proceedings were conducted ex parte.

The court subsequently issued orders against the bank, directing it to compensate the customer and pay the prescribed fine.
