Online rider killed as robbers open fire during motorcycle snatching in Scheme 33

KARACHI: An online bike rider, identified as Naeemullah, was shot dead by two armed robbers during a robbery attempt in Karachi’s Scheme 33.

The incident took place near Sir Syed Chowk in the Teacher Society area, within the jurisdiction of Sachal police station.

According to police, unidentified motorcycle-riding suspects opened fire on 35-year-old Naeemullah during the incident and fled after snatching his motorcycle.

Police said Naeemullah sustained two gunshot wounds to the head and died at the scene. His body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities, where he was later identified.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are working to trace the suspects. Officials have also said that the circumstances of the killing are being examined to determine whether the incident was solely a robbery.

The killing comes amid continued incidents of robbery resistance in Karachi. According to police figures reported on Monday, the number of people killed in robbery-resistance incidents in the city this year has reached 56.
