No marks of assault found in post-mortem of Lahore tuition centre student

The preliminary post-mortem report of a 10-year-old girl, who was found dead in the washroom of a private tuition centre in Lahore's Ichhra area, has concluded that she died from asphyxiation caused by strangulation, while police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.

According to the initial post-mortem findings, the victim, a sixth-grade student, had a distinct ligature mark around her neck. The report found no visible signs of physical assault or other injuries on her body.

Officials said that the exact cause and manner of death will be determined after forensic and chemical examination reports are completed. Fingerprints and DNA samples collected from the scene have been sent to a forensic laboratory for analysis.

The incident occurred on Wednesday when the child went to the tuition centre for classes. Police said she entered the washroom during class but did not return for more than 10 minutes. Staff later forced open the washroom door and found her unconscious. She was taken to hospital, where doctors confirmed she had died before arrival.

The victim's father said he received a call from the tuition centre informing him that his daughter had fallen unconscious. He rushed to the centre and took her to hospital, but she could not be revived.

Police have described the case as suspicious and said they are investigating all possible angles, including homicide, suicide and other circumstances. The owner of the tuition centre has been taken into custody for questioning, while CCTV footage from the premises and surrounding area has been seized as part of the investigation.
