Nishtar Hospital Multan takes action against doctor over misbehavior

Nishtar Hospital has sacked a doctor working in the post of house officer for allegedly misbehaving with the patient’s family, as the video went viral on social media.

The video footage showed the family of the patient complaining that the patient had passed away due to the negligence of the doctor, as he refused to give the patient a blood transfusion. When the doctor got caught on camera, he started to make inappropriate signs. Moreover, a lot of people were seen in the video.

The doctor, who identified as Qasim Jamal, was suspended from his duty right after the video footage went viral on social media. Meanwhile, an inquiry committee was also formed to investigate the matter.

The hospital took action immediately over the incident and issued a notification that the doctor has been suspended. 

According to the reports, the patient was admitted in a very critical condition on Thursday. It said she was then stabilized after the treatment and was to be transferred to another ward for a blood transfusion. 

However, the patient’s condition worsened to the point that blood transfusions were no longer possible, which caused frustration among her family members, the report stated.

“The attendants behaved inappropriately toward the doctor and the staff on duty,” the report added. “In response, the doctor also acted inappropriately and made an unsuitable gesture toward the attendants.”

The report noted that the patient received proper and appropriate medical treatment.
