At least nine people, including seven members of the same family, died after a three-storey residential building collapsed in Multan's Haram gate area in the wee hours of Tuesday.

According to rescue and police officials, as many as 19 people got buried under the debris of a building.

They said nine bodies were recovered while two survivors were also rescued from the rubble after a rescue operation of 3 hours.

The three-storey building was located near Mohalla Jawadian at Haram gate, as per details.

A rescue official identified the deceased as Faheem Abbas, Sanober, 40, Danish, 15, Waseem, 14, Komal and Bakhtawar, 13, and Amir Ali, 2.

However, the cause behind the building's collapse will be determined after an inquiry, police said.
