KARACHI: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency) has carried out a raid on a large call centre in the Gulzar-e-Hijri area of Karachi, detaining more than 50 agents.

According to officials, the call centre staff have been shifted to the agency’s office for further questioning. Authorities said further action will be taken after completing initial investigations.

The call centre was reportedly being operated by a man identified as Hani, described by officials as a notorious figure.

Investigators said the facility was allegedly involved in fraudulent activities through an application-based system, where staff posed as bank representatives to deceive foreign nationals.

Officials further stated that call centre operators were collecting data of overseas citizens and allegedly withdrawing money from their bank accounts.

Laptop computers and other equipment were also seized during the raid, according to NCCIA officials.
