Marwat says Islamabad march may not ensure survival of Sohail Afridi’s government

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi is facing growing opposition within PTI, with Sher Afzal Marwat confirming reports of a possible no-confidence move against him.

Marwat said PTI founder Imran Khan had conveyed through lawyer Salman Safdar that Afridi should step down, citing concerns over his ability to lead the planned Islamabad march.

According to Marwat, Nooreen Niazi also briefed Imran Khan about internal opposition to Afridi, including a group of around 35 MPAs who were reportedly dissatisfied with his performance.

Marwat further claimed that Imran Khan was told the lawmakers believed Afridi had failed to deliver, and that Khan agreed with their criticism.

He also said the internal dispute could continue even if PTI succeeds in holding its Islamabad march, claiming Afridi’s government would still face serious challenges to its survival.
